Kayla will be directing a new virtual mini-musical, The Teenagers Aware of Death by Amir Razavi this December! This musical will be streamed for donations to benefit mental health organizations focused on teens and young adults.

Kayla will be part of a virtual panel of female filmmakers as part of San Antonio's Dreamweek, speaking on the topic of The Power of Intergenerational Storytelling - Kayla will share details of her work on Le Contraire... and Rewriting Ramona, alongside her co-producer, Alyssa Lopez. The session will air on January 26, 2022.
Kayla was awarded the Steven Schwartzberg Grant for Mental Health & Wellness for 2021-2022. This grant is specifically designed to help cover mental health & wellness costs for emerging theatre writers, composers, lyricists, and librettists.
FILM + THEATRE
Kayla's filmed play, Le Contraire De La Solitude (or, the opposite of lonely), received an exclusive joint pre-screening in New York City and San Antonio, Texas on October 28th, 2021. Stay tuned for more on this film in the spring!
